What a CrOc!?, June 16, 2008
By

Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

At first I didn’t know what to make of this shoe/sandal… it’s lightweight, comfortable and “convertible”, which is a nice feature that I’ve never seen in a sandal before. First, I’ll break down the benefits, then give the low-points.

“LIGHTWEIGHT & COMFORTABLE”

This is probably the most attractive feature of the CROC, because it adds to the comfort and makes you feel like you’re walking on air. By far the most comfortable things I’ve ever worn and I’m a picky shoe person. I have only owned 1 pair of sandals for the past 6 years and have hated every other sandal I’ve tried on, so these CROCS are definitely special.

“CONVERTIBLE”

You can turn the “sandal” into a “shoe” simply by pushing forward the strap. In “shoe” mode, it’s a tighter more snug fit, so you don’t have to worry about it coming off your feet. In “sandal” mode, it’s easy to slip on and off (although it has a tendency to cling to the bottom of your feet), for that quick trip outside to take out the trash, or pick up your cell phone that you left in the car.

PROBLEM: “SWEATY FEET”

One problem I have with the CROC is that it doesn’t ventilate very well. Sure, it’s got holes. But the material is such that it traps heat so you’re feet end up sweating in warm weather.

PROBLEM: “HOLES ALLOW DEBRIS IN”

Another problem is that the holes allow all sorts of debris into the sandal while you’re walking, such as loose rocks, wood chips at the playground, sand and dirt (when you’re not at the beach), and rain water (puddles in the parking lot). This means that you’re feet get dirty rather quickly and can be uncomfortable at places where there is a lot of debris – eg, playgrounds.

“SIZE & PRICE”

Sizing is a bit weird. I’d recommend going to a store first to try it on and see what size you are. It’s hard to find a good selection at a store, so it’s best just to dip in for sizing and then purchase the one you want on Amazon. Turned out to be the best thing for me, as I was able to score Army Green Caymans from Amazon, while searching at numerous stores I’ve only been able to find blue and black Caymans in sizes way too big. For .99 I think it’s a bit pricey actually, but if you’re picky about sandals like me, there’s nothing you can do about it.

“STYLE”

One other thing you’ll have to get used to is how aesthetically disgusting it is. Let’s be frank: it’s a damn ugly shoe and there’s no way getting around it. It’s not the prettiest thing to wear, but it’s hands-down the most comfortable. Just be careful where you tread. Definitely not an all-terrain/purpose sandal. Good for beach and casual sidewalk/short trip walking.

“DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BEACH AND CAYMAN STYLES”

None. Except that the sizes for Beach version are “ranges” and are more roomy for your feet. Cayman sizes are exact and are more narrow. Try on before you buy as the versions are not the same.

Inconsistent shoe sizes, June 26, 2008
By

I ordered two pairs of Crocs – one pair of thongs and one pair of cayman crocs. I used the sizing chart provided and ordered both pairs in M5/W7. However, when they arrived, while the Thongs fit perfectly, with room to wiggle, the Caymans were way too small (I’d almost say a full size too small). The Thongs were “made in China” and the Caymans “made in Mexico”. I went to my local store and discovered that they receive Croc orders which are often made in multiple countries. It would appear to me that there is no “standard” mold used. So beware – just because you have tried them on in a store and think you have the correct size – you may end up getting a larger or smaller size, depending on where they are manufactured.

Nice surprise!, June 27, 2007

I love these things. My daughter (who’s in the medical field)turned me on to these. She, as do I, has a need for arch support because they’re so high. She also knew my arches has been falling due to age (I’m in my late forties)and I need inserts in my work shoes. She’s been wearing her pair since last fall (2006) and picked me up some of the Croc “glides?” in March.

I liked them so much I ordered these Caymans for myself. Amazing support for “difficult” feet. I wear them whenever I’m not in my work shoes. I may look somewhat foolish (they’re marketed at a much lower age bracket than myself), but I’m comfortable so I don’t care.

FitFlop Women’s Electra Toning Sandal

  • Designed to tone muscles

List Price: $ 59.99

Price:

If between sizes, Fitflop recommends you size down to the nearest whole size.

So much more than just a walking sandal! The FitFlop is a very appealing sandal to many across the globe. The reason? Unlike most fitness sandals, the Fit Flop is good looking and stylish. You can wear them with just about anything: jeans, shorts, skirts.

Seven Reasons Why Everyone is Wearing FitFlops
  • FitFlop midsoles incorporate patent-pending micro-wobbleboard™ technology, to give you a workout while you walk.
Developed by Darren James and Dr David Cook at LSBU, the FitFlop’s unique safely-tapered midsole places varying densities of EVA under your feet each time you step, to challenge the support and balance muscles of the foot and leg.

  • They challenge hard to reach muscles more.
FitFlops are engineered with a multi-density midsole that stimulates your muscles more while you’re wearing them. In independent University testing, FitFlops have been shown to trigger increase gluteal muscle response, increased hamstring response, increase rectus femoris (thigh) response and increased calf muscle response.

  • Every step you take in your FitFlops helps tone and trim your legs.
Studies at Salford University by Dr. Philip Graham-Smith and Richard Jones have shown that the FitFlop midsole extends the amount of time that the slow twitch* muscles are engaged during each step (by approximately 10-12%). So just by wearing a pair of FitFlops you’ll get more exercise while doing just exactly what you’re normally doing.
*slow twitch muscles produce energy by converting fats into energy aerobically

  • FitFlops work your bum muscles more.
FitFlops have been proven to increase the amount of time that the gluteus maximus muscle is ‘activated’ during every single step.

  • FitFlops have been shown to have a significant effect on the toning muscles of your thighs.
The rectus femoris muscle (one of the large muscles in the group of muscles in your thigh) is activated for a longer period of time while walking in FitFlops than while normally shod or barefoot.

  • Walking in FitFlops is like walking barefoot, but a little bit better.
According to a study done at the University of Salford in Manchester, UK, the FitFlop wearer’s gait is very similar to that of a barefoot walker, but the added cushion provided by the EVA midsole helps reduce joint strain and absorb shock. In fact, several FitFlop wearers have already reported relief from back pain after a few days of wearing them.

  • FitFlops make it easier to stay in shape. Just throw them on while you’re running errands, walking to work, or working around your house. Most first-time FitFlop wearers report feeling their muscles working more, while ‘fitter’ wearers feedback has been more toward great comfort and cushion. One woman reported feeling like she’d had a ‘bum-blasting’ workout after a half an hour of FitFlop-shod walking.

Microwobbleboard™ tecnology in the FitFlop midsole
activates your leg muscles more while you walk in them.

  • Microwobbleboard™ tecnology in the FitFlop midsole activates your leg muscles more while you walk in them.

  • Foot hugging upper keeps the sole of the foot in contact with the patent pending FitFlop midsole.

  • Firm toe area promotes active push-off to maintain walking speed.

  • Multi-density midsole extends the time the leg muscles are engaged during each step.

  • Dense EVA heel strike point provides heel cushioning.

  • Non-slip outsole creates grip to maintain stability.

Stay in style while staying in shape with this Electra sequined sandal from FitFlop. Featuring a sole composed of three distinct densities of EVA foam that together create a slightly destabilizing effect, your muscles are engaged each time you step, increasing leg, calf and gluteal muscle activity for better tone; improving your posture; and reducing the amount of stress on your lower back and feet. So you’re secretly working out—while cleaning the house, running errands, or strolling through your favorite stores with friends—without disrupting your busy lifestyle.

My truth about FitFlop Electras, September 7, 2009
By

This review is from: FitFlop Women’s Electra Toning Sandal (Apparel)

First, I have not seen any difference whatsoever in my leg or butt muscles. I don’t care. Not only are these cute, but they are uber-comfortable.

I bought these FitFlops about a week before I went to a conference in Los Angeles. I wore them around, broke them in (they don’t need much) and ended up wearing them all my waking hours. We did some walking, and I was happy. It wasn’t until my cousin and I went to Disneyland from 10 a.m until midnight, walking, walking, walking that I realized just how much these FitFlops really help. I walked for the whole 14 hour day and did NOT have horrible knee pain. –Three years ago I screwed up my knee trying to do a 5K. After that I walked 3 miles a couple of times a week (~an hour) for exercise and my knee would be sore. Sometimes I had to quit walking after even 10 minutes, the pain was so sore! But not so with the FitFlops, even after a super full day at Disneyland! Talk about awesome!

One more thing. I’ve had all these little broken blood vessels along my (high) arches for a while now, from being about 30 lbs. overweight. Well, the little broken blood vessels have disappeared since I’ve been wearing these FitFlops. I only bought them a month ago! My arches and my knees are so thankful for FitFlops!

(now if only I could get my high arched feet into their other styles too!)

Much Better than a regular flop., July 18, 2009

Cinediva (Pasadena, CA) – See all my reviews

Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

I bought the Electra in Black which looks dressier than your average flop and I have been complimented on the style. The FitFlop runs big so even though I wear a 6.5 M in a normal shoe, I wear a 6M in the FitFlop. The FitFlop’s sturdy platform bottom gives you a bit of height and is nicely balanced so you don’t wobble or slide around. I don’t wear flip flops everywhere the way some people do – I’ve seen people wear flip flops with formal dresses, which is an embarrassing fashion mistake. But FitFlops are great for casual and weekend wear. I wear them around the house, for short walks, trips to the store, etc. They are very comfortable and the thong has rounded edges so it doesn’t cut into your foot. I haven’t noticed any significant loss of inches but I was already thin when I got them. I have noticed that they put less pressure on my knees. I’ve had them for two months and with regular use, they still look new. I recommend getting a color with a dark footbed like black or bronze. (Lighter footbeds of sandals show toe marks over time.) Definitely recommend this product.

I have two pair of this miracle product. I have Neuroma in my left foot that forced me to quit my job. I have paid close to 0.00 in the past for Orthodics and shoes to help my problem but over time was no help at all. I live in Arizona where you can wear thongs year around, so after seeing this product on TV (Oprah) and reading numerous reviews on them I purchased my first pair and I was in a dream because I can walk for long periods of time with very little to no pain. There is very little pressure on the ball of my foot where all my problem is. Thank you for your Fitflops they have literally saved my life from a nonactive existance to being able to enjoy my life again. I highly recommend these sandals to anyone who has the same problem, you will love them.
